Lazyweb: Is Apple’s branch of JDK6 open source? I’m interested in seeing some of the implementation differences for JVM startup (i.e. jni.cpp) vs. the Sun/Oracle implementation.

Apple’s JDK6 is a licensed, proprietary sauce based primarily on the Sun/Oracle implementation.
The Mac OS X JDK7 is still in development and is apparently open source.

James Stansell That’s what I was afraid of. Apple made a change to the JNI implementation in the late June Java update and I can’t find anything but the slimmest details on what changed… That change is not in the openjdk (yet).
