Hilariously, I was just at the Apple store two days ago and one of the folks there carefully instructed a kid to go through all of the recently-used apps in the task bar of their iPod touch every night and forcibly delete them all to free up memory. Poor kid is going to be wasting a lot of time…
I’ve forcibly quit apps on my old 3GS when it started running slowly, and it definitely seemed zippier afterwards. If it really doesn’t do anything, why did Apple go through the trouble of adding the feature?
