A paper proposes embedding inductive charging coils in highways to provide power to electric vehicles as they drive. I’m curious whether others think this is feasible or not as a massive infrastructure project. If it’s possible, then it helps solve the range problem of all-electric vehicles, and could help reduce weight by requiring fewer batteries if vehicles can count on power en route.
But imagine the problems caused by an outage due to natural disaster…

Wouldn’t it be awesome if we powered more things this way? Tesla would be spinning in his grave if he knew we’re still trying to figure out how best to use technologies he pioneered a century ago! Now I wonder if he had the foresight to have his body wrapped in wire and a magnetic coffin…
