You know the NFC tap-to-share feature in some new phones? It would be cool if wifi base stations supported that. A guest in your house just taps their phone/tablet on your router and gets permission to use you network without having to type a password.

what if they broke in, got on the network, then left without taking anything, staying just within range?  Hmmm, I’m watching too many movies like “Enemy of the State” 🙂
I’m surprised no has made a NFC tap to unlock school locker.
Mohamed Jamal – have you seen school capitol budgets in the US? I think there’s no money to be made in that arena.
LOL. I was thinking the kids would buy their own locks. Up here in Canada I remember we had to supply our own locks for lockers.
Heh, I see. When I was a kid they didn’t trust us with our own locks. If we had our own locks, how could they inspect our lockers for evidence of misdeeds? The locks were just to keep each other out, not to keep the authority figures out. Hmm, I sense an analogy forming…
Some routers have a physical button on top that when pressed allows connection of the next device. Not as precise but along the same lines.
Conor Klecker – Ahh, yes, I’ve used that button for wireless printer setup. The tap-to-allow approach could require less of “where’s that setup screen on my phone?” fiddling. But, yes, I’m surprised that phones/tablets don’t already have support for that home router button.
