I’ve been a fan of the music Police and Sting for a very long time. But until today I never heard of their precursor band, Strontium 90. Their only released album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strontium_90:_Police_Academy) is available on Amazon. It really stinks and I don’t recommend it… However, there’s one rather interesting song: an acoustic version of “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, which of course became famous 4 years (and 4 albums) later in a much livelier arrangement.
Ever-so-vaguely-related anecdote: about 10 years ago I won a radio contest when I invented lyrics to “Englishman in Madtown”. For my efforts, I got free front-row tickets to his Brand New Day tour visit in Madison.
I saw the Police at Foxboro Stadium on their Synchronicity tour (’83), great show, but the downside was that one of the warm-up groups was Flock of Seagulls. 😛
