This must be a typo in the latest city press release: “So far this year: The City of Madison has experienced 7 fatality crashes involving a motor vehicle. This is 5 too many!”

You can’t remove all the risk and trying to do so is usually more damaging and expensive than the risk you are trying to prevent. Yes, there are acceptable losses.
Mark Tinberg Good point. But I still think the press release was either a typo or very poorly worded.
They fixed it, now it says 7/7.
