Huh, Sprint has been adding a lot of new LTE territory in southern Wisconsin … but not Madison or Milwaukee. That seems like an odd strategy to me, but the boundaries look like they lie on county lines so I wonder if there’s a regulatory explanation?
Related but orthogonal, I’m pretty intrigued by Republic Wireless because they have roaming included, which would give me western Dane County voice service that I don’t get right now with my current MVNO.
I need some help understanding these networks. I have a FirefoxOS phone that only gets 2g on T-Mobile in Madison (and almost everywhere else I’ve been), but somehow gets 3G in Milwaukee…
Jason Gullickson – I’m no expert on t-mobile, but the comments I’ve collected from current and past users (I was considering switching to them) told me that their LTE is pretty good in west Madison/Middleton but in east Madison and 3G everywhere, their pretty terrible. But I have no hard data…
Interesting, I’ll have to take a trip to the west-side and see what happens 🙂
