Curious about your thoughts on it. I thought about it for a while before I settled on the nexus 5,but I never handled a moto x.
Christian Dolan I’ll probably post about it in a couple weeks. For me, Republic’s plan is more interesting than the phone hardware, but I have heard good things about the motox. Versus my current carrier (VirginMobile) I gain wi-fi calling, Verizon voice roaming, Android updates, and save $10/month.
I fiddled with the motox in a store, and was pleased to see it’s the same W x H as my current ICS phone but thinner and lighter with a bigger screen. So I expect I’ll like it.
I love the nexus level OS, but I do miss wifi calling on T-Mobile. Since their coverage is a little spotty even in metro Portland, being able to get calls and texts over wifi was convenient.
I’ve wanted the Moto X, but unfortunately it didn’t make it to Germany. I “settled” for the Nexus 5, but the Moto G that was just unveiled for 169 EUR (~199 USD) is quite amazing. Good specs, few compromises vs the Moto X, same design language.
That might be the goto phone for everybody who wants to dip their toes into the smartphone world.
Hmm… I wonder if I should cancel my order for a Nexus 5… it won’t ship for weeks.
Philip Durbin check out the device in a store somewhere. See if you’re happy with the screen, the feel of the device, the camera, and other features that are important to you.
I feel like the Moto X deserves more attention than it has gotten so far.
The Nexus 5 is a very nice device, no doubt about it. Performance is amazing, totally smooth, very nice screen. But it also has issues. The camera is very slow to focus, the quality of the images isn’t that great. On my device the GPS is slow to get a fix/loses it from time to time. All issues that I hope a patch will address, but no news on those topics yet.
