This is a surprisingly fascinating video. An ice fishing expert, supervised by a local fire department, deliberately falls into a hole in the ice… 3 times! … and demonstrates how to get out with and without assistance. Wow, that’s serious dedication.

I’ve never seen this before. A guy is showing people how to escape if they fall through the ice. He did it without special gear. Don’t try this at home.

Once I fell in when the ice I was standing on gave way… luckily I was standing next to a raft and grabbed it immediately and was able to pull myself out (with help from someone as well.) I only got wet up to my waist, but the weight of the water when you are dressed in winter clothes (boots, snow pants) is quite a bit! It also started freezing up pretty fast once I was in the cold air. Fun times!
