It’s been about 50 days since I switched from Republic Wireless to Google’s Project Fi for my cell carrier. I’m very happy with the switch. With one exception Fi has been completely reliable for voice, text and data as far as I’ve noticed. The wifi voice quality is dramatically better than RW, primarily because the latency is tolerable — further proof that it was RW at fault, not my network.
My one exception was an incoming voice call when I was at home. My tablet rang and my desktop rang, but my phone did not ring. Unable to answer, I listened to the voicemail on my desktop a half minute later and about 10 minutes later the phone received that same voicemail. Strange.
Hm. I’ve been considering the move, but I’ve been on an actual unlimited plan (no cap, no throttle) on Tmobile and I now use a TON of data. I’ve gotten out of the habit of using WiFi (frankly, my LTE is often faster than my cable Internet over WiFi). I’m using a Nexus 5.
