March 2016 Eclipse

Since I haven’t stayed with the new and improved G+ I see this on my computer as a beautiful animated GIF.

The Japan Meteorological Agency Himawari-8 geostationary satellite caught the March 2016 eclipse from its perspective above and south of Japan.

I don’t truly know, but here’s a guess: the satellite that took the time-lapse photos is a weather satellite so it probably has some colored filters or pixels that are optimized for weather forecasting rather than “true-color” photos that human-centric cameras uses.
