Beautiful little time lapse of a volcanic eruption on Jupiter’s moon Io. These still images come from 2007 when NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft slingshotted past Jupiter on its way to Pluto and beyond. The actual time from frame 1 to frame 5 is 8 minutes. The volcano is just behind Io in this sequence, so only the volcanic plume is visible and not the volcano itself.

Cool
That’s pretty cool chris.how ya been long time no see
Looks like there’s another volcano at about 7 o’clock
Mike Corey looks pretty small though
Mike Corey yeah, Io is incredible. From the linked article: “On a given night, we may see half a dozen or more different hot spots. Of Io’s hundreds of active volcanos, we have been able to track the 50 that were the most powerful over the past few years.”
that looks kool
but planets aren’t even round, more psy-op.
Sweet
Beautiful
Mark Richardson it’s OK though because below Jupiter’s beautiful cloud bands is a layer of tin foil to protect it from the mind-control beam aboard New Horizons
How Sweet….mmmm lOVELY
